Meet Theresa Olivier, our committed Social Worker at ess. Theresa's inspiration for entering this field is rooted in her deep compassion for people, influenced by her family's history of serving in the helping profession.
Theresa specializes in couples & relationship therapy. She's most passionate about working with adults who recognize their need for help, acknowledging that admitting this need is the first step to solving problems, and approaches her work by actively engaging with communities, participating in community activities, and networking to build trust.

Key career moments include her early years in the South African Navy Defence Force during the Angola war and the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of her proud achievements is the successful opening of a thrift shop in Swakopmund as a community outreach project.

In her free time, she enjoys physical workouts, the outdoors, spending quiet time in nature, and gardening to recharge and find inspiration for her work. She stays updated with the latest developments in her field through continuous professional development (CPD) training and interacting with professionals in the social work field.
Theresa's guiding principle is finding a balance in caring for oneself to be able to care for others. Her future goals revolve around addressing issues of unemployment and poverty to empower people to be responsible and seize opportunities.
