Meet Hubert
Meet Hubert Mukosho, our dedicated peer supporter and facilitator of the Substance Abuse Support Group at ess. Hubert's inspiration to pursue this field comes from a profound desire to contribute to something larger than himself by aiding individuals facing various challenges, from mental health and addiction issues to grief and loneliness.
Hubert is most passionate about social justice, clinical health, family, and school social work, which allow him to make positive changes in communities and challenge injustices related to factors like race and ethnicity. He believes in building relationships based on respect, honesty, and transparency, and he has been actively involved in various community projects, including founding Namibia Youth Against Substance Abuse (NaYASA) and offering support services to Walvis Bay residents.

Significant moments in his career includes personal experiences with substance abuse, along with those of family and friends, shaping his empathetic practice style. Challenges in his career include a lack of resources and the prevalence of shebeens, bars, and drug-related issues in communities, but Hubert and his colleagues focus on providing family-focused interventions and prevention programs.
Hubert specializes in working with the youth and emphasizes the importance of constant learning and development to stay relevant in his field.
He takes inspiration from the joy of helping others and the positive feelings it generates. His intervention success stories range from individuals overcoming addiction and changing their lives to family dynamics improving significantly.
In his free time, Hubert maintains his physical and spiritual well-being through regular exercise, church attendance, and participating in sports programs aimed at engaging and inspiring the youth. He keeps updated with the latest developments and best practices in community work through online resources and local networking.

Hubert's guiding principles involve respecting every individual, promoting social justice, and empowering communities to enhance their well-being. He looks forward to introducing sports programs that will keep youth engaged and away from negative influences.
His approach is influenced by the wisdom of Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, reflecting his hope for positive change in the world.
He lives by Gandhi's quote: "Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
